Art Not Shame offers tools and programming for youth and other community members to express and address mental health challenges through collaborative artā€making and storytelling. We do this by hosting workshops in partnership with schools, local organizations, and established community health programs.

Art Not Shame workshops provide participants with a range of creative mediums to explore and share their ideas and experiences — to create Art, Not Shame — our name and our mission.

Michelle Peek, Founder and Creative Director of Art Not Shame, and filmmaker Jeremy Hannah led the Long Table participants in activities like those used in their creativity workshops. Together we engaged in movement exercises, group discussions of creativity and ideas of perfection, and writing group poems sourced from reflections. Each group presented their poem to the group, and participants explored the relationship between creativity and daily life.

Michelle and Jeremy also presented short films that Jeremy made in collaboration with Art Not Shame participants, which you can watch here.
