10th Anniversary of Hamilton Arts & Letters

This event is sponsored by CCENA. Featuring: HAL editors Paul Lisson and Fiona Kinsella, Music ensemble ArtPop with Dusty Micale, Klyde Broox, Henry Giroux, Shane Neilson, and many more! Followed by reception.

 

Long Table: The 10th Anniversary of Hamilton Arts & Letters

Date: 18 October 2018

Time: 3-5 PM

Location: Room 212, McMaster CCE, 1 James St N

This Long Table, organized by HAL editors Paul Lisson, Fiona Kinsella, and Shane Neilson, involves artists and poets with disability or who engage in a significant way with the topic of disability as a result of caring, loving, and living with persons with disability. The Long Table kicks off with Music Professor Dusty Micale and the ArtPop music ensemble.

Following the Long Table, Paul and Fiona invite all attendees to a viewing of Der Himmel über Hammer ist blau (The sky above is blue hammer), an exhibition by Paul and Fiona. Location: b contemporary gallery, 226 James St North (a short distance from CCE).

Long Table: Agile Films and Hamilton Tenants Solidarity Network

Date: 20 November 2018

Time: 7-9 PM

Location: Room 212, McMaster CCE, 1 James St N

Agile Films Collective, facilitated by Peter Cockett, works with youth to develop skills in film-making and will present one of their films. Hamilton Tenants Solidarity Network is a grassroots initiative that seeks to connect tenants from across Hamilton and amplify their concerns. Folks from HTSN will share their work, including their new newsletter!

 

Long Table: Placing Attention

Placing Attention is the first in a themed series of Long Tables on the ways art can shape how people perceive their surroundings. This Long Table features artist Calla Churchward, poet Darrell Epp, and a broadsheet by Matt McInnes and Simon Orpana.

 

Long Table: Art Not Shame and Stories from Hamilton

Date: 12 March 2019

Time: 3-5 PM

Location: Room 213, McMaster CCE, 1 James St N

The mission of Art Not Shame (directed by Michelle Peek) is to support people in expressing and addressing mental health challenges through art-making and storytelling. Stories from Hamilton (organized by Lisa Pijuan-Nomura) works to develop the capacity of new storytellers in Hamilton.
